Our Story - from the beginning..

 

Founded by Dave Brown back in June of 2023, ICU Cameras has been operating for over three years, steadily expanding its client base across the events and construction sectors.

Dave’s knowledge has been built over years of experience working with both homeowners and local businesses on CCTV installations. This isn’t his bread and butter — it’s something that sparked his interest over time. Dave’s primary profession is as a specialist pharmaceutical robotics engineer, a role he has held for over 25 years.

ICU began at a small festival site in Hertfordshire, when a member of the festival’s production team asked Dave if he could install a couple of cameras to cover a bar and entrance tent. Although it was his first temporary CCTV setup — especially one in a field — he took on the challenge, and that first project inspired the creation of ICU Cameras.

Fast forward three years: what started with four cameras has now grown into full-site CCTV coverage, with events featuring over 30 cameras, including three operator-controlled PTZ (pan, tilt, zoom) units. In the beginning, live video feeds could only be monitored occasionally by the onsite festival security team. Now, ICU provides a dedicated operations tent, with the production’s security team manning the live feeds and relaying information back to the main security control point. Dave still steps in to assist with PTZ operations and onsite footage retrieval when needed.

Not only does ICU supply and maintain the digital security side of festivals and events, but Dave has also continued to work with the same festival that helped start the ICU brand. Dave has become a valued member of the production team — not only carrying out his own tasks for ICU, but also involving himself in various other duties that keep a festival running smoothly, such as power distribution and cable management, stage builds, fencing setup, entrance ticket sales, rubbish collection, bar stocking, and stepping in whenever a pair of hands is needed.

Today, ICU is trusted by event organisers, contractors, and private clients for dependable temporary security systems and network connectivity.
